It’s no secret that I love a bold red lip. For years I’ve been preaching Russian Red by MAC as the must-have red lipstick for Indian skin. I’ve tried many other drugstore brands, and even high-end lipsticks but always come back to Russian Red. The deep saturated colour + it’s amazing ability to stay off of chai cups and on my lips makes it soulmate material.
A couple of months ago MAC Cosmetics released a limited edition red called ‘Proud to Be Canadian’ and of course I had to try it. To be honest, I bought it for the patriotic packaging and wasn’t expecting to love it. Wrong! One of my favourite purchases of 2017 guys.
Along with being a stunning colour, this red is actually moisturizing unlike Russian Red. My old favourite can be quite drying and if you wear it without prepping your lips it will crack. This red is much more forgiving.
I don’t usually do red lips in the summer, but a few weeks ago I had some out of office meetings and wanted to dress up a bit so I decided to pull it out. I just love how a bold red lip and some easy loose curls can dress up such a simple outfit. When I wear red lips I tend to go soft on the accessories because I want them to to be the star. On this day I did pair the outfit with my red love shoes though – only because both reds were far apart enough not to upstage each other. (Yes, I think about these things, I’m weird like that.)
OUTFIT DETAILS:
Shirt: Winners
Pants: RW & Co – but I shortened them because I prefer capri or ankle length pants
Shoes: Towne Shoes

You rock red lips?? Just like you, I’m a big fan of red lips too. My most favorite red is Ruby Woo by mac, I think it totally complements my dusky skin tone. But I must get my hands on the limited edition ‘Proud to be Canadian’ red, would love to have a moisturizing red that also looks so good!
I love red lips Sonali! Tend to rock the darker shades in fall/winter though. I’ve heard so much about Ruby Woo but haven’t tried it yet, will have to check it out.
