DIY Bollywood Checkers

It seems like there are always endless get togethers during the holiday season. And while this time of year can be stressful, it is nice to spend time with people you love. Games are such a great way to bring people together and this DIY Bollywood Checkers set is a fun take on a classic!

I found the board and the pieces at Michaels and I already had the paint from previous DIY projects. Since it’s easy to make and fairly inexpensive, this would also make a great gift!

You’ll need a few supplies to make the set:
– a 12×12 inch board
– 24 1×1 inch round pieces
– two different colours of paint
– pictures of Bollywood stars – here is a downloadable PDF for the ones I used!
– mod podge

Starting with the board, divide it up into 1.5 inch squares. You should end up with an 8 square by 8 square board (64 squares total). Paint the squares, alternating colours between each one. While that dries, print and cut out the Bollywood pictures. I had a lot of fun picking out the different sets. I ended up going with Khan vs. Khan and Kareena vs. Katrina, but in the download I’ve also included Amitabh vs. Amitabh and a fun boys vs. girls option, as well. Next use the mod podge to adhere the pictures to the pieces and let them all dry. And that’s it! Now you’ve got a custom Bollywood checkers set. All that’s left is to invite some friends over and test it out!
