After years of switching up my foundation, and trying almost every option in the drugstore, I’ve finally found the best drugstore foundation. There have been a few others that I’ve loved and used, but Maybelline Fit Me! is the one I always go back to. And isn’t that the true test of a product?
My relationship with foundation started back in my teens during the years I spent dealing with cystic acne. Back then the goal was to cover everything up but over time I’ve let go of cakey and heavy foundation that is meant to “hide” my skin and now I use foundation just to brighten and even everything out. While I still have a couple of high-end favourites that I usually use for special occasions, on the everyday, I’m a drugstore girl. And, when it comes to drugstore foundations, the one I just can’t get enough of is Maybelline Fit Me!

The thing about any drugstore foundation is that you have to follow a couple of rules to get the best results. Always moisturize your skin ahead of time, apply it with a good applicator (I swear by my beauty blender), and set it lightly with some translucent or pressed powder. My other trick with foundation – drugstore or not – is to update your shade for the winter and summer. Our skin changes tones seasonally and I don’t think one foundation works all year. My go-to shade in the Maybelline Fit Me! foundation is 315 Soft Honey in the Hydrate + Smooth formula. In the summer I tend to go up a shade or two depending on how much sun I get!
