pink-chai-style-bagToday’s post is brought to you by my complete lack of desire for  leaving the house today, and the interest that you all showed in my bag on Monday. See how that worked out! Actually I’m feeling super lazy today, which is a combination of overworking myself this weekend and my thyroid being on the sluggish side this week, so I thought why not give you a peek inside my new Aldo bag which many of you seem to like.

I’m not naturally an organized person, but I have purse packing down to a ninja level skill, and rarely forget anything (except sometimes I make the ultimate fail when switching purses and forget to take my wallet)! So what do I carry in my bag….

The inner workings of my bag can be broken down into everyday and work events. Before you judge me – yes, I carry a lot of things in my purse on a daily basis.

Everyday items: phone, business cards, mini notebook and pen, make-up bag with – pressed powder, lip gloss, eye liner (yes, I think this is an every day item), perfume, mini deodorant, hand sanitizer and pain killers and band aids. The band aids are used for distracting my children when they get “hurt”, or for potential blisters. So if you ever see me with a Strawberry Shortcake or Phineus and Ferb band aid on my ankle, you know the deal.

{I’m such a drug store make up girl! Some of my favourites from left to right: Rimmel Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss, Revlon ColorStay lip gloss, Annabelle lip pencil, Cover Girl pressed powder, and Maybelline Line Stilleto Liquid Liner (this is the best liquid liner!)}

My work bag includes all of the above plus: jump charger for my phone, rocket Internet stick, iPad + keyboard, camera + 2 lenses, and sometimes a pair of flats! It is totally crazy what I carry around in my bag, but they honestly are all things that I need to use on a daily basis.

Lately, I’ve even taken to something I like to call “double-pursing”. Basically it means when I attend work events I’ll carry a bag for my camera (which is what this bag is intended for) and a purse for my everyday stuff. How about you, how much “stuff” do you carry around every day? More or less than me, tell me am I nuts?

    I also carry eyeliner in my purse – an everyday item for me too! Makes me look much more awake when I’m tired and my thyroid is slowing me down (I have an underactive thyroid). I spy a Jo Malone perfume in the first pic…just treated myself for my bday to a new bottle. Her scents are amazing!

      Yay for eye liner junkies (I have so many types)! Yes, that is one of my favourite Jo Malone scents, English Pear and Freesia. I’m hooked on Jo Malone candles and need a part time job to support my habit at this point!

    I think my life can be summed up that I am the woman who will always be in search of the perfect purse. I fear it doesn’t exist. I see many I like and try, but then something also proves to me weeks later: no, this is not the perfect purse! LOL
    I have to be able to carry everything I need of a day out – whether alone, or with 1, 2 or all 3 of my kids. phone and charger, wallet, sunglasses, I have a makeup kit, brush, mini hairspray, emergency “monthly” supplies — I even have a spare pair of underwear. Waterproof matches. what the…?? I have no idea. once a girl scout!

  3. Wow, you guys seem prepared for anything! I only put a wallet, lipliner and gloss, and a pair of sunglasses in my purse. But somehow a whole bunch of other stuff finds its way in there!

  4. Bianca says:

    I’m envious of your purse and it’s contents! I’ve finally invested in a good bag, but ever since dropping both a diaper bag and briefcase from my everyday use, my purse has become a disorganized mess! I’d especially love to add some new makeup to my roster of purse items, I’ll have to use your list as a reference point on my next trip to the store!

  5. Salma says:

    I actually went to look at the Aldo bag today because I realize that I need different purses as well. I already have one that functions as a diaper bag and one that works when I don’t have kids with me. Now I need one that is a ‘working bag.’ And I don’t think you carry too much in your bags, all a necessity!

  6. I’m on the road a lot so I carry EVERYTHING. Meds for hubby, myself and kid. Bandaids, sanitizer, neosporin. Tissues. Notebook and multiple pens (because I can never find one). Full make up regime. Nail clippers, tweezers. Rosary. Perfume and lotion. But mine’s messier than yours :0)

  7. Angie Rehal says:

    I like to call my bag an organized chaos. I think I need everything that’s in there but I’m pretty sure could do without! staples are makeup/chargers/book/ipad and a pair of nail clippers.

  8. […] Even though it may not look like it, my new bag carries almost everything I need for myself as well as my kids. This weekend, when I decided to dump everything out of my bag to clean it out, I was again astonished at how much I could fit into it. Then I thought, I should share with everyone what I keep in my bag! I was inspired by a post by my friend Raj at Pink Chai Style. […]
